Dear Journal,
My name is Elina, which means intelligent in the Cherokee language. I am a girl living with my Cherokee tribe. My dad, Bhanu (which means sun in our language) is the chief. I have a little sister whose name is Chhaya (meaning shadow), she is 3. My older brother is a very brave warrior , his name is Asija (meaning brother and a great sage ) he is 16. My mother is named Bhumi (meaning earth). I wish to be a Beloved Woman some day because they are very respected in our community. Wait there is mother calling me to help cook supper. I'll be right back. Okay I'm back. We had cornpones and stew for supper. Later my friend Charu (meaning beautiful and attractive) and I are going to pick wild flowers as the sun goes down.
